K: What is the right way of being righteous? what can we practically do?
T: The only way is love. Love about anything which surrounds us, love for life. We live for ourselves and for the others.. I cannot live without you, and you cannot live without me. There’s a bond which is love and it’s one and for all.
K: Is it the message you’re trying to convey through your music? T: Sure. People should begin to feel, and to flow into the others. One ought to be conscious and to spread good vibrations.. we must learn to love.
K: This is also what you say in your song “Keep looking up”..a new idea of God..
T:yeah..we must look around us,feel the vibes and give them back through love. It’s a powerful exchange of feelings..this can really change the world..
K: What do you think about bashment music, which conveys another kind of message to the youth? T: well,this is not my message,but if someone wants to do something I wouldn’t do..there’s freedom you know. It’s not music which is responsible for things women do.. and I used to wear short skirts too and “dutty wine” ,that’s natural, teenagers ought to have fun, consciousness will come..
K: So you don’t think this kind of music puts the woman in a bad position..T: No, what matters is the every woman finds her own role and position,, moreover good cannot exist without evil, woman without man.. contrast is what makes the world go round.
K: Now in Jamaica women are gaining their position day by day, they’re more aware of who they are,, do you think this is also thanks to music like yours? T: Women are getting more conscious day by day, but this comes from their interior strength, in daily life.. my music just celebrates this new kind of woman.
